DEEP BREATHING POSTERS

Have you ever told a kid to take a deep breath, and then they start hyperventilating? Or they breathe in, but don’t breathe out?

Taking a deep breath is the first step to help kids and teens calm down when they’re anxious or overwhelmed. Our posters can help kids learn how to take a deep breath properly.

Our posters are designed to help kids slow down and breathe in and out to help them relax and calm down. We use four shapes: a triangle, star, square and an 8 on it’s side, otherwise known as a lazy 8.

Deep Breathing Triangle

Breathe in for 3, hold for 3, breathe out for 3

Deep Breathing Square

Breathe in for 4, Hold for 4, breathe out for 4, hold for 4.

Deep Breathing Lazy Eight

Start with an image of an 8 on it’s side (it looks like an infinity sign). Starting in the middle, go up to the left and trace the left part of the 8 with your finger while you breathe in. When you get to the middle of the 8 again, breathe out while you trace the right part of the 8 with your finger.

Deep Breathing Star

Breathe in, hold at the point, breathe out, keep going until you’ve gone around the whole star.

We have two versions of our deep breathing posters, original and playful.

The original version is simple, and can be used for a wide range of ages.

The playful version is beautiful illustrated, and works especially well with younger kids.
