Frequently Asked Questions

When do I get access to the materials?

Once you join the Hub, you can access all the resources, videos, and PDFs online. You will also have the opportunity to participate in live webinars, ask questions, and share wins in the community space.

What age range are these coping skills for?

We have coping skills for kids in preschool up through high school in the Hub. You can search the Hub using the following tags to find skills for the proper age: preschool, elementary, middle, high. As I add more skills to the Hub, I will focus on adding skills for the different age groups.

Are these skills evidence-based?

According to the American Psychological Association (2006), evidence-based practice means "the integration of the best available research with clinical expertise in the context of patient characteristics, culture, and preferences." I created the Coping Skills Hub with this definition in mind.

"best available research"

I read research about coping skills and their effectiveness regularly. As new findings emerge, I want to ensure those are included in my work at Coping Skills for Kids. Each coping style has a page that contains research and additional resources. These will continue to get updated as I read new research.

"clinical expertise"

Some of the coping skills I include throughout the Coping Skills Hub are ones I've tried with clients and my own children throughout the years that have worked well, or are ones that other experts have shared with me. My goal is to have kids & teens find coping skills that are safe and healthy. If a coping skill is safe and healthy, and works, then we can consider it as a potential strategy to suggest.

"patient characteristics, culture, and preferences"

Part of evidence-based research should be to include the client's preferences - who they are, what they enjoy, their background, and their own experiences. I've been working with clients for more than two decades now, and I hear from them all the time about different strategies that work for them. Part of our therapeutic connection includes me listening to them and honoring their experiences. I add those new strategies into my repertoire of coping skills regularly. Not all coping skills work for all kids. It depends on where kids are, their feelings, and what they like.

What if we already work with a therapist?

That’s completely okay! Think of the Hub as an additional tool in your toolkit, helping you identify strategies that work and set up your home in a way to use strategies when they are needed.

Can I really get personal help from you, or is it just access to content?

Yes! You get real support from me, not just pre-recorded content. Every Hub member can message me directly with questions, and I respond personally. If you need more in-depth support, you can also schedule consultation calls with me. Whether you're stuck on how to help your child through anxiety, need strategies for your classroom, or want to develop your own coping skills, I'm here to help you find what works for your unique situation.

How does the consultation and personalized support work?

All Hub members can send me private messages through the platform about any coping skills questions. I respond personally to every message—typically within 24-48 hours on weekdays. These conversations are confidential, just between us.

For more in-depth support, members can schedule one-on-one consultation calls. During these sessions, we can:

  • Troubleshoot specific challenges you're facing

  • Create personalized strategies tailored to your child, students, or yourself

  • Review what's working and adjust your approach

  • Answer complex questions that need more discussion

This personalized support is included in your membership—you're not just getting content, you're getting ongoing expert guidance.

What if I want to cancel?

You are free to cancel at any time. You can do that at any time within your profile on the Hub.
