Kindle Version of the Coping Skills for Teens Workbook
If you’re in crisis, please tell an adult you trust. It can be a parent, a grandparent, an aunt, uncle, cousin, or a good family friend. It can be a teacher, the school nurse, the school counselor, a member of your church, a coach, a dance teacher, etc. Even Lady Gaga encourages us to do this:
“We gotta take care of each other. If you see somebody that’s
hurting, don’t look away. And if you’re hurting, even though
it might be hard, try to find that bravery within yourself to
dive deep and go tell somebody.”
- Lady Gaga

How to Find a Therapist
There are probably already people in your life who may be able to give you recommendations for therapists.
Start with:
Your pediatrician - Pediatricians may have a referral list of individual therapists who are experienced in working with teens.
Your School Counselor/Guidance Counselor - Usually counselors in a school know of local resources that can be helpful, including local individual therapists.
Your Insurance Company - this is a great place to start if you want to make sure that there aren’t any insurance issues.
Other places to check:
goodtherapy.com - This is a great place to start looking, and reach out to people who seem like they might be a good fit.
betterhelp.com - If you’re 13 to 19, this is a place where you can see a therapist online. You can sign up for therapy with parental permission through this site, and you can message your therapist or schedule chat, phone, or video meetings with a therapist.
