Using Shapes to Take Deep Breaths

Deep breathing is so hokey, right? But there are lots of fun ways to encourage deep breathing, and using shapes is awesome. 

It gives some structure to breathing for kids, and easy to follow directions. It hopefully prevents that hyperventilation or holding their breath without breathing out that can happen if you just say “take a deep breath”

One of my favorite resources to help families who are dealing with Sensory Processing Disorder is A Sensory Life, created by Angie Voss. I've worked with a lot of kids who have difficulties with sensory input, and this website had a wealth of information for parents whose kids struggle with sensory issues.
